New Senior Pastor, Dr. James Walker

We, your Pastor Search committee have spent the last seven months diligently searching and praying for God's guidance and will in finding a new Senior Pastor for First Baptist Alpharetta. We would like to thank the FBCA church body for all the many prayers and support you have given us during this time.

We had several qualities we were looking for in a Senior Pastor, but most important were the following:

  • A Pastor called by God who loves the Word, who is an effective preacher and teacher who will touch and encourage the heart’s of God’s people.
  • A Pastor called by God who has a true shepherd’s heart and love for all people.
  • A Pastor who is a Godly and skilled leader.

God has answered these prayers by leading this team to Pastor James Walker.

James and his family have been serving God here in the Atlanta area since August, 2007. James was named successor and CEO to the Haggai Institute. There he has continued the Institute's world mission to train leaders in 178 countries to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Prior to his taking on this roll, James Walker was the Pastor of Biltmore Baptist Church of Arden, just south of Asheville, North Carolina from 1993-2007. During his time there, Pastor Walker led Biltmore Baptist through phenomenal growth.

During his pastorate, Biltmore Baptist Church was known throughout the nation for its effective prayer ministry and had over 1,100 active prayer warriors. Biltmore Baptist was recognized in 2007 as one of the 19 Standout Churches in the Southern Baptist Convention for their consistency in evangelism effectiveness. Pastor Walker led his church to plant two churches during 2006-2007, as well as planting another church when he was called to his new assignment at the Haggai Institute.

We are honored to present Pastor Walker as our chosen candidate for Senior Pastor of First Baptist Alpharetta. His experience in leadership, growth and evangelism not only meet, but surpass our expectations for the future growth and life of this church. We are excited at what God has planned for Pastor Walker at First Baptist Alpharetta.
